„Breast cancer“ is one of the most common female disease not only in most European countries, but also in Lithuania. Statistics show that one of nine women may suffer from this disease in her life. Early detection is vital for effective treatment, so it is necessary to have enough information to confront these diseases.” With this introduction KMU students called in their forthcoming conference, which aimed to discuss the breast cancer issues from the very basics – the presentation of breast anatomy, discussing breast cancer epidemiology, risk factors, to acquaint women with self help ways, as well as relevant diagnosis, treatment methods.
On the 4th of March students presented the latest information about breast cancer, the methods of investigation, and even their own research in Kaunas Medical University Hospital’s grand auditorium. Student’s E.Svitojūtė, A. Petrušaitė presented the work on “The possibility of the use of thermography in diagnosis of breast cancer”, which was based on a study of girls with a thermal camera. The results were startling, making it difficult not to admire of young medics initiative and knowledge. Project “Do Not Delay” representatives the opportunity to learn the knowledge and called for future professionals to join the project volunteers to travel with Pink Ribbons Bus, to learn knowledge, experience of the best professionals and support the implementation of cancer education mission.
